Jugger

Jugger

What initially looks rather chaotic and reminiscent of wild gladiator fights is actually a relatively unknown sport that is primarily about speed and coordination. The risk of injury is no higher than with other sports, as the equipment is all padded and the sport does not involve any destructive actions for participants.

In short, jugger is a mixture of rugby, fencing and kendo, in which there are 2 teams with 5 players each. 4 "pompers" and a "runner".

At the start of each round, the runner tries to get the jugg, a cue ball, and put it into the opponent's square to score a point for his team. His teammates have the task of protecting him from the opposing team with padded playing equipment, the pompfen, and preventing the opposing runner from scoring.

What makes jugger so special?
Perhaps the fusion of individual and team sport or the ability to compete in a new way. In any case, Jugger enjoys great popularity and also fulfills an educational purpose.

Jugger requires cooperation, communication and consideration for one's own and the opposing team and is also a lot of fun.
