Wildau verbindet - Campus, City, Community

Through the event „Wildau verbindet – Campus, City, Community“, we aim to bring together people from the town and the university and actively promote dialogue between different communities.

The event has several key objectives: to build bridges between the university and the town, to foster closer ties between residents, students, researchers and staff, and to break down barriers to interaction.

At the same time, the format contributes to the promotion of democratic values and enables participants to broaden their knowledge of different cultures, regions and generations.

Who is the event aimed at?

This new community festival serves as a complementary event to those already established. It is aimed at a wide audience: members of the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Wildau, people working in research, industry and commerce, as well as the town’s residents – including families, older people, schoolchildren, immigrants and locals. Around 1,000 people are expected to attend.

What is planned?

The programme focuses on active engagement and interaction. A diverse range of activities encourages people to meet and take part together. These include interactive elements such as a walk-through map of Wildau, international group games for different age groups, and hands-on activities in science and technology. Among other things, students will present culinary specialities from different countries, whilst lecturers will demonstrate exciting experiments.

The programme is complemented by cultural and historical contributions, including fashion shows, re-enactments featuring historical figures, and exhibitions on the history of the locomotive works. Innovative formats, such as students introducing virtual reality and artificial intelligence – particularly to older generations – create additional spaces for intergenerational interaction.

How can I get involved?

Other elements include a collaboratively developed cookbook featuring recipes from different countries and decades, a photography competition under the theme ‘Wildau verbindet’, and a search for eyewitnesses to document the period from 1945 to 1989.

“Wildau verbindet – Campus, City, Community” thus stands for open, inclusive and forward-looking cooperation and sets an example for diversity and collaboration in the region.
