How Vulnerable Is Our Freedom? Exhibitions on Democracy and Academic Freedom on the Campus

Democracy needs academic freedom, and academic freedom needs democracy.

You can explore this delicate balance through two traveling exhibitions, which will be on display on the campus from October 1 to November 13, 2026.

Globe of Academic Freedom | 1st floor of the university library | Mon–Fri, 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

• The multitouch table with a 3D globe presents global data on academic freedom dating back to 1900

• The exhibit was loaned by Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The Volkswagen Foundation funded the exhibit.

• Bilingual exhibit (English and German)

• Accessible via elevator

• Registration for larger groups (10 or more people) at karrierezentrum(at)th-wildau.de

• The open-air exhibition explores the history of German democracy through specific locations and events

• Developed and made available by the Foundation Stiftung Orte der deutschen Demokratiegeschichte

• Bilingual exhibition (English and German)
