“Strength lies in differences, not in similarities.” Stephen Covey
Mission Statement
Our shared goal is to create an inclusive and diverse university community in which everyone is treated as equals and is respected. To this end, we work together to break down barriers and obstacles so that everyone at TH Wildau has equal opportunities—regardless of individual characteristics such as gender, sexual orientation, age, nationality/ethnicity, physical and mental abilities, social background, or religion/worldview.
To this end, we promote exchange and collaboration among different cultures and groups and actively work to combat discrimination, exclusion, and prejudice. In this way, we aim to help create a university community in which everyone can reach their full potential.
Responsibilities and Key Areas of Focus
- Raising awareness within the university community through informational events, workshops, or campaigns that address issues such as racism, discrimination, or prejudice
- Developing measures to promote diversity: measures to ensure physical and digital accessibility, the use of inclusive language and imagery, and the creation of safe spaces
- Counseling and support for marginalized groups: counseling on issues of discrimination, access to education, and equality
- Research and data collection: Initiating research projects and conducting data collection to gain a better understanding of the university’s current status regarding diversity and inclusion
- Collaboration with other organizations through partnerships with local communities, NGOs, or other universities and educational institutions to exchange best practices and work together on issues of diversity and inclusion
Meeting
The members of the working group meet regularly on the first Wednesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., usually in a hybrid format: LOK 21 (Room A1-01) & online. Anyone interested is always welcome to attend and can register by emailing diversity@th-wildau.de.
#savethedate 11. Mai 2027
Every year in May, the nationwide German Diversity Day—initiated by Charta der Vielfalt e.V.—takes place. The Diversity and Inclusion Working Group has been participating in this day of action for several years with its own program on campus.
The next German Diversity Day will take place on May 11, 2027. We will gradually publish details about the program starting in spring 2027. Here (website: to the left of the text; mobile: above) you can find all the information about the 2026 program.
