May 19, 2026 - German Diversity-Day at TH Wildau
Diversity Inspires Innovation - Under this motto, TH Wildau celebrated German Diversity-Day on May 19, 2026, an event initiated by the Charta der Vielfalt e. V.. The Diversity and Inclusion Working Group offered once again a diverse program for this day, with this year’s focus topic being “Language.” The KpE was pleased to offer the workshop “Introduction to German Sign Language” as part of this event, in cooperation with Roman Kohl from Gebärdenwürfel UG.
Other highlights included two empowering workshops on drag and body language in university life, a playful raising of the Pride flag, and plenty of opportunities to interact while playing the wheel of fortune, enjoying smoothies, and having a barbecue.
#savethedate: The next German Diversity-Day is on May 11, 2027.
May 05, 2026 - THtalk alumni x student
At our traditional THtalk alumni x student event, four successful TH Wildau alumni returned to their university for an evening to give students authentic insights into their career paths after obtaining a degree. Ana Maria Pineda Collazos, Christian Frömmel, Frank Jander, and Franziska Staab shared insights into how they started their careers and discussed what their degree programme hadn’t prepared them for. They emphasized the importance of networking, humility, courage, and seizing opportunities, and answered questions from students in the audience with great expertise. Thank you very much for the wonderful event and for your commitment to your university!
April 28, 2026 - Kompass Career Fair at the University of Potsdam
On April 28, the KpE team visited the Kompass Career Fair at the University of Potsdam and took advantage of this great opportunity to talk with Potsdam students, graduates, and anyone else who was interested. The fair truly offers visitors a kind of compass to help them navigate their career paths after obtaining a degree more easily. We were happy to contribute to that. We brought along a few goodies from TH Wildau and, of course, plenty of information about academic careers at a university of applied sciences (UAS), and specifically at TH Wildau. We were very pleased with the great interest in the career path of an UAS-professorship and would love to come back!
April 27, 2026 - How to Prof: Women Pursuing a Professorship at a University of Applied Sciences
In cooperation with the Westfälische Hochschuleand the VDI WoMentorIng program, we organized the online event “How to Prof: Women Pursuing a Professorship at a University of Applied Sciences.” The goal of the event was to provide people from all over Germany who are interested in a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences with first-hand information about the career path. And who could do that better than the professors themselves?
The highlight of the evening was when Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dina Hannebauer and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ute Geißler from TH Wildau, as well as Prof. Dr. Marina Arendt from WH, offered exclusive insights into their personal paths to a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences, discussed the hurdles they faced, and shared valuable tips. The KpE would like to thank everyone for the successful collaboration and the audience’s interest!
April to May 2026 - Lunch & Learn: Balancing university life and care work: realities, roles and resources
Our third Lunch & Learn series, titled "Balancing university life and care work: realities, roles and resources", kicked off in the summer semester of 2026 in cooperation with Franziska Kieslich from the Family Service Office of the TH Wildau. In three sessions, expert Marina Dillmann, head of DERINA Bildungswerkstatt für Menschen im Gesundheitswesen (Educational Centre for People in Healthcare), provided solid, informative and interesting insights into the broad topic of care and highlighted ways to relieve the burden on caregivers.
Marina Dillmann provided a balanced mix of theoretical background on the concept of care, the gender care gap, and the current data and legal landscape—while still leaving plenty of room for individual questions, discussions, and exchanges on this very personal topic. The KpE thanks Marina Dillmann and Franziska Kieslich for this rewarding collaboration!
November 2025 to January 2026 - Lunch & Learn: Does it get any better? Between the demand for excellence and the reality - Why the appointment procedure is not a sure-fire success!
In three sessions in this Lunch & Learn series, Dr Markus Glöckner shed light on the appointment procedure from a legal and practical perspective - from calls for applications and selection of the best candidates to appointment lists and competitor disputes to special procedures such as in-house appointments and open questions from practice. Thanks to all participants for the lively discussions and questions and to Dr Markus Glöckner for the compact and applicable impulses. Based on all the feedback, we can already look ahead to 2026: the exciting and complex topic of the appointment process will continue to occupy us!
Do not hesitate to contact us or write to us if you have any topics for the continuation of the series: karrierezentrum@th-wildau.de
January 20, 2026 - Lunch & Learn: Sexual and gender diversity - Results from the German government's Ninth Ageing Report
In the final session of our Lunch & Learn series on diversity in the winter semester, which we organised in cooperation with Ray Trautwein, Diversity Manager at TH Wildau, Prof Ralf Lottmann (Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences) provided insights into the topic of “Sexual and gender diversity - results from the German government's ninth ageing report”.
He reported on the complex intersection of the diversity dimensions sexual and gender diversity and age, spoke about the needs of LGBTIQ* senior citizens and about innovative care approaches - and made it particularly clear that diversity-sensitive care is by no means a niche topic, but benefits everyone.
December 2, 2025 - Lunch & Learn: The power of our roots - how social background affects educational and career opportunities
The third session of our Lunch & Learn series on diversity in cooperation with Ray Trautwein, Diversity Manager at TH Wildau, focussed on the diversity dimension of "social background".
Valentin Burgert, Project Manager for Social Impact at the non-profit organisation Netzwerk Chancen, spoke about "The power of our roots - how social background affects educational and career opportunities". The focus was on both structural hurdles and barriers that people in Germany encounter on their educational and career path, as well as very individual perspectives on the topic of social background. This way, the speaker managed to engage with the participants on a personal level.
November 4, 2025 - Lunch & Learn: Safe Brandenburg? Queer visibility at universities
Second guest in our Lunch & Learn series on diversity in cooperation with Ray Trautwein, Diversity Manager at TH Wildau: Lars Bergmann, expert for LGBTIQ+ rights at Fachstelle für geschlechtliche & sexuelle Vielfalt des Landes Brandenburg.
In his input entitled "Safe Brandenburg? Queer visibility at universities', Lars Bergmann not only provided the latest data on the topic of LGBTIQ* at Brandenburg universities, but also reflected on the ambivalences of queer visibility vs. queer safety and the political framework conditions of both - and thus literally gave the participants plenty of food for thought.
October 14, 2025 - Career fair THCONNECT and our third THtalk alumni x student
For the first time at this year's THCONNECT, the TH Wildau was not only the host, but also an employer: together with Christine Heinrich, Head of Human Resources Development and Recruitment, the Career Centre team was able to represent the university itself with a stand this year and draw attention to its advantages as an employer as well as vacancies. And we were also part of the supporting programme: The THtalk alumni x student took place as part of the careers fair - this time with alumni Vira Stennikova and Tobias Pradel, who focused on the topics of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship and starting a career on the German labour market as an international student.
October 7, 2025 - Lunch & Learn: Diversity - a question of leadership?
In autumn 2025, we launched our new online format Lunch & Learn, which offers easy access to input on various university-related topics during the lunch break. In cooperation with Ray Trautwein, Diversity Manager at TH Wildau, we presented the first sessions in this series on the topic of diversity.
To kick the event off, Dr Judith Muster and Yulia Komarova (Metaplan®) spoke on the topic of ‘Diversity - a question of leadership?’. December 5, 2024 - Experience day "Inclusion concerns us all!"
The Experience day presented a unique opportunity to interactively engage with the topic of inclusion. The LAG Sachsen team provided visitors with an extraordinary self-experience: they were able to try out aids such as wheelchairs and simulation glasses to experience first-hand how their perception of the familiar campus changes with a mobility or visual impairment. In addition, the university's internal counselling services, as well as the social counselling service of the Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg presented themselves.
November 26, 2024 - the first THtalk: alumni x student
On 26 November, 2024, our event THtalk: alumni x student took place for the first time. This event gives students and alumni of TH Wildau the valuable opportunity to get to know each other. Alumni share their professional experiences and provide insights into their careers after graduation. Students can ask questions about their careers and find inspiration and support.
To kick off the format, four alumni returned to the university who have had successful careers after graduating from TH Wildau:
Michael Dietze (studied Economics), Martin Frank (studied Industrial Engineering), Nicole Korset-Ristic (studied European Management) and Matheus Laba (studied Technical Management and Logistics) reported on their career paths and gave tips for professional success.

May 28, 2024 - Online-event "Professorship at a Technical University of Applied Sciences - a still unknown career path"
What makes the professorship at a Technical University of Applied Sciences really special is the great degree of freedom - the participants of the online event "University professor - the still unknown career path" on 28 May 2024 agreed on this. Compared to the private sector, the earning potential at a university is not unlimited. However, as the participants in the panel discussion, Prof. Dr Burghilde Wieneke-Toutaoui, Prof. Dr Dina Hannebauer and Prof. Dr Ulrike Gayh, reported, the wide scope for creativity as a professor ensures lasting professional satisfaction.
The event was organised by the Career Centre for Professorial Development (KpE) at TH Wildau and the network "Women in Engineering" of the VDI - The Association of German Engineers. The aim of the event was to inform those interested about the still little-known career profile of the UAS professorship. The organising team was delighted with the lively interest and exciting discussions, which did not ignore the difficult phases on the path to a professorship.
As one participant aptly remarked, universities are first and foremost places of education for most people. Many do not realise that universities can also be employers and that exciting job profiles such as the UAS professorship are associated with this. The Career Centre for Professorial Development would like to improve awareness of the UAS professorship and has taken a further step towards this goal with the online event "University professor - the still unknown career path".
