komet[de] is focussed on the interdisciplinary development and implementation of a smart, participative, socio-technical system of assistance for supporting regional problem-solving processes dealing with demographic change.

Development and application of an assistance system for municipalities experiencing demographic change. Within the scope of this project, komet[de] will assume that complex problems arise in the course of demographic change where specific regional development conditions are not, or are no longer, suitable for meeting the requirements that result from work and life processes in the region. These work and life processes are themselves subject to very dynamic changes, e.g. due to the digitalisation of many services and within manufacturing. Viewed as a whole, the solution in many cases will be conscious innovation in the regional development conditions and to renew these with the aim of making them suitable to meet the needs of businesses, organisations and people in the region.

The project will use an Action Research (AcR) methodology, which is to be implemented as part of the project management. The phases of the Action Research process provide structure to the five-year research and development process, linked with repeated Action Evaluating and Action Planning phases to the required intensive agreement process between partners.
