Statement by President Prof. Ulrike Tippe on the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria
Thousands of people have already lost their lives in the devastating earthquake that hit the Turkish-Syrian border region on 6 February 2023. In addition, there are numerous injured and countless people are still missing under the rubble. It was the worst quake in more than 20 years.
Prof. Ulrike Tippe, President of TH Wildau:
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the many deaths, injuries and damage caused by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. On behalf of the entire university, we extend our sympathy and deepest condolences to all the victims and their families. Among our students are many who come from Turkey or Syria or have family and friends there. Our thoughts are with them and our partner institutions in the region."

On its website, the Federal Foreign Office mentions Aktion Deutschland Hilft, which has made an appeal for donations.
In addition, the Federal Foreign Office has also compiled answers to the most important questions about the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
