Mourning for Prof. Benjamin Fabian
It is with great bewilderment and deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Prof. Dr rer. pol. habil. Benjamin Fabian, who passed away suddenly and far too early on 4 December 2024.
Before joining TH Wildau, Prof. Benjamin Fabian was employed at Humboldt University (HU) Berlin between 2008 and 2011, where he habilitated in 2013 on the topic ‘Security and Privacy in Federated Information Services’. He then continued his career at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences for Telecommunications as a professor of data science and business intelligence before initially working as an adjunct lecturer at our university in 2020. Shortly afterwards that same year, he was appointed professor of administrative informatics, in particular IT security and IT management, at TH Wildau.
At TH Wildau, he continued to take on the role of degree programme director for the bachelor's programme in Public Administration Informatics with great dedication, as well as the scientific leadership of the research project ‘EDIH - European Digital Innovation Hub for Brandenburg’.
In September 2024, Prof. Fabian was appointed research professor for one of a total of four research professorships advertised at TH Wildau due to his impressive research concept.
Prof. Fabian was 53 years old.
We have lost an outstanding scientist and a colleague who was highly esteemed and very popular with students, colleagues and staff (members).
Our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy go out to his wife and family, as well as his friends and colleagues in his teaching and research work, during this difficult time.
