2nd Wildau International Week launched - eleven countries meet for guest lectures and intercultural exchange at the TH Wildau
From 8 to 12 May, Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau is hosting its second International Week. Lecturers from 11 countries will be guests, jointly organising an international lecture programme for students and interested parties, exploring the capital region together and celebrating together at the International Afternoon at TH Wildau.
From 8 to 12 May, the lecture halls at Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau) will be even more international. International Week started today for the second time since 2022. Over the next few days, 17 lecturers from 11 different countries will be giving guest lectures in various degree programmes, presenting their universities and colleges and engaging in dialogue with students and interested parties.
The programme started today with the opening by Prof. Jörg Reiff-Stephan, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the TH Wildau, as well as the first workshops for the guest lecturers and a joint dinner. From Tuesday to Thursday, the guests will also be lecturers, giving lectures and leading seminars in which students will work on specific tasks together.
Prof Jörg Reiff-Stephan emphasised the importance of international partnerships in his opening speech: "As a global community, we are fortunate to have a great diversity of students and lecturers from so many different countries. International Week is an opportunity to celebrate these international partnerships that our university has established with higher education organisations around the world. They allow us to do research together, exchange students and undertake other initiatives that benefit our community and society as a whole."
Simon Devos-Chernova, coordinator of the International Week at TH Wildau: "We are delighted to be hosting the event again as a university. This will certainly be a valuable experience for our international guests and our students. The International Week also enables us to further strengthen our valuable partnerships."
On Thursday, things will also get colourful at the International Afternoon at TH Wildau, to which the university invites interested parties to the campus (Hall 17) from 3 to 6 pm. More information can be found at en.th-wildau.de/international-afternoon. On the last day, the guests will then explore Potsdam and Sanssouci Palace Park.
On Saturday, 13 May, the team from the Centre for International Affairs will also have a stand at the TH Wildau's University Information Day to show people how they can combine studying at the TH Wildau with a temporary study visit to one of the partner universities (www.th-wildau.de/hit).
Further information
Internationalisation is one of the most important development goals and cross-sectional tasks at the TH Wildau. In order to provide university members with comprehensive training for an international university/work life, the Centre for International Affairs and Human Resources Development have jointly developed a certificate programme for international skills. It has been offered at TH Wildau since the 2020/2021 winter semester.
