2nd Wildau cloverleaf on 19 and 20 April - TH Wildau invites you to hike in four stages and for the first time on the family route in 2024 too
Exercise in the fresh air, different route lengths and routes, a total of 24 hours of activity in the region around Wildau. In cooperation with the Dahme-Seenland Tourism Association, the University Sports Department of the TH Wildau is organising the 2nd Wildau Cloverleaf Hike on 19 and 20 April 2024. As in the previous year, four stages of 25 kilometres each will be offered. A new addition is a 10-kilometre family route.
The 2nd Wildau Cloverleaf Hike on 19 and 20 April 2024 is the perfect start to the hiking season for those interested in hiking in the Wildau region. The challenge for motivated hikers is 100 kilometres in 24 hours. As in the previous year, the university sports team at TH Wildau is organising the "cloverleaf" in cooperation with the Dahme-Seenland tourism association. Hiking routes of 25, 50, 75 or even 100 kilometres are on offer - the joint sporting event caters for all ability levels.
The four guided stages start and end on the campus of the TH Wildau as the centre of the cloverleaf. After each section of the route, there are breaks with refreshments and the opportunity to give tired feet a rest.
Graduate sports scientist Sahra Weber at TH Wildau: "We all want to cross the finish line together. This means that every 25 kilometres, participants on a new hiking route will join the hiking group. The daring 100-kilometre hikers start on Friday at 6 p.m., then the 75-kilometre hikers join in, followed by the 50-kilometre hikers and so on. We hike at an average speed of five kilometres per hour, so we plan around five to five and a half hours per stage."
The tourism association uses the event as a traditional start to the 2024 hiking year. The variety of routes through the Dahme-Seenland region not only appeal to different levels of ability, but also showcase the region's scenic beauty.
Four stages with plenty of nature
The first stage (Friday 6:00 pm) runs from the TH Wildau eastwards to Krüpelsee. The Dahme landscape is traversed here from Neue Mühle on the Dahme cycle path between Kablow and Bindow and the Skabyer Torfgraben nature reserve via Königs Wusterhausen back to Wildau. The second "Blättchen" runs southwards at night until the morning as a five-lake hike combined with the popular hiking route through the Sutschketal valley. Torches are also required here.
Early on Saturday morning, the route heads west towards Schönefelder Kreuz. Via the Wildau Kurpark, Miersdorf and Kiekebusch, the route leads back through meadows and forests to the final descent via the "Asthma Stairs" (108 steps) in Wildau. The northern tour on the trail of the Fontanewanderweg then completes the cloverleaf from Saturday afternoon. The route leads via Zeuthen, Eichwalde to Schmöckwitz on the outskirts of Berlin and onwards via Schmöckwitzer Werder to Krossinsee. The route then returns to the campus via Wernsdorf, Ziegenhals and past Niederlehmer Luch.
New 10-kilometre family walk
A family hike of around 10 kilometres is also planned. The hike will be supervised by certified nature and landscape guides. In addition to the hike, there will be plenty of information and variety. The family circuit runs from Wildau along the road in the direction of Zeuthen. In Miersdorf, you pass the village church and enter the Höllengrund-Pulverberg nature reserve. A very natural and hilly section awaits the hiking group before it becomes flat again in Wildau along the River Dahme. After the riverside passage, it is only a short distance via the Schwarzer Weg back to TH Wildau.
"We hope that we can get as many people of all ages as possible interested in our hike again this year and that we can actively experience our beautiful region with its many forests, meadows and lakes together," say Sahra Weber from TH Wildau and Norman Siehl from the tourism association.
