Living in Wildau and Environs

On this page you will find general information on how to look for accommodation and on living in Wildau and environs.

The university town of Wildau, our neighbouring town of Königs Wusterhausen, and other close-by towns and communities offer ideal conditions for student living: affordable accommodation, short distances, a good infrastructure, proximity to Berlin, easy accessibility with public transport, and a large variety of opportunities for leisure activities. We nonetheless recommend that you begin looking for accommodation as early as possible, as the demand is always greatest at the beginning of each semester. As most of our degree programmes begin in the winter semester it is often easier to find accommodation for the summer semester.

Students can choose between a room in one of our student residences or to rent their own accommodation privately.

Student Residences in Wildau

In Germany there are only enough affordable rooms in student accommodation for around ten per cent of all students. Therefore it is very important that you apply for a place as early as possible. If you are sure that you wish to study at TH Wildau then please use the online application process (in German or English), even if you have not yet been allocated a study place. You can submit your notification of acceptance later. Students aged over thirty do not have a right to a place in student residences. To see whether you are eligible for a place please consult our FAQs.

Important to know: In Germany student residences are not administered by the universities themselves, but by separate student services’ organisations called "Studierendenwerk". Rooms in student dorms for TH Wildau are allocated by the Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg.

The Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg operates four student residences in Wildau with a total of 448 rooms.

FAQ – Living in Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg accommodation

How to increase your chance of getting a place in a students’ residence

  • Specify several locations and not just one hall of residence. This will increase your chances of finding a place. If there is no room available in the one residence you stipulate you will then not be offered a room in another residence even if one is available.
  • You can apply online six months before the start of the semester (from April for the coming winter semester, from October for the coming summer semester). You should apply as soon as possible when the application form is activated.

Homesharing "Wohnen für Hilfe" of the Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg
