AR-LocGraph – Augmented Reality-based localisation using Graph-based information modelling
Project description
Together with two industry partners from Berlin, the research group is developing an Augmented Reality (AR) application for the input and visualization of universal location-based information from a graph-based information model for use on on HMD (head-mounted displays) such as AR glasses. The aim is to provide users in an industrial context with live information on work processes, tasks, material distribution, etc. in a location-based manner.
Within the scope of the project, the Telematics Research Group is developing a novel combined localisation procedure based on a marker-based method patented by the Telematics Research Group. This will enable reliable localisation and navigation even within large closed environments, such as industrial buildings or warehouses, where neither GPS nor a radio-based infrastructure is available.
Objective
The aim of the project is the implementation of the positioning and navigation method in a cross-platform software system, which can be integrated into an overall application for AR-glasses as well as for smartphones/tablets.
