Heterogeneous MOPA - Development of a heterogenous MOPA Solid State Laser System

Titel:

Development of a heterogenous MOPA Solid State Laser System based on Nd-doped Vanadates and Cr-doped garnets for minaturised  photonic applications.

Short form:

Heterogeneous MOPA

Abstract:

The aim of the "HeterogeneousMOPA" (MOPA=Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) project is to develop a monolithic, passively Q-switched solid-state laser system with a downstream amplifier stage. The laser forms a heterogeneous material system with the downstream amplifier stage. The resonator consists of the combination Nd:YVO4/Cr:YAG and the postamplifier is again made of the material Nd:YVO4. The monolithic laser cavity constructed in this way has clear advantages over conventional concepts used in practice, such as Nd:YAG/Cr:YAG. On the one hand, Nd-doped YVO4 has a much broader absorption spectrum than YAG. This means that pump light sources with a significantly broader emission spectrum can be used.
