Brief profile of Prof. Dr Isabell Peters

Isabell Peters is professor of Public Administration Informatics at the Technische Hochschule Wildau – Technical University of Applied Sciences. She combines expertise in public administration and political science with many years of practical experience in the digital transformation of the public sector. As an expert in digital administration, digital governance, and artificial intelligence, she explores how public organisations can strategically deploy digital technologies, embed them within their organisational structures, and shape them responsibly. She focuses particularly on artificial intelligence in public administration, IT strategies, process design, and the future of automated administration.

Previously, Isabell Peters worked in strategic consultancy and IT project management, supporting digitalisation projects in businesses and public administrations. Today, she combines research, teaching, and knowledge transfer at the intersection of public administration, information technology, organization, and innovation.

EDIH pro_digital – European Digital Innovation Hub https://edihprodigital.eu/en

Isabell Peters is the Scientific Director at EDIH pro_digital. The hub is part of the European network of Digital Innovation Hubs and supports start-ups, SMEs and public institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg with their digital and sustainable transformation, particularly in the fields of automation and artificial intelligence; the hub is operating during its second funding period, from January 2026 to December 2028.

 

Digital Adminstration: The Human factor in (future) governance

This project examines the role of humans in an increasingly automated public administration. It focuses on automated decision-making processes, the limits of machine-based support, and the future configuration of a public administration that is both lawful and effective; the project is being carried out in collaboration with Prof. Dr Stephan Meyer.

 

Responsible AI in Government

Isabell Peters and her team are conducting research into the governance and organisational requirements for the responsible use of AI in public administration. Their work focuses on comparative policy analyses of Responsible AI in Government, as well as the development of maturity models that can be used to systematically assess the current state of implementation, structural requirements and development needs within public authorities.
