Vent/Sölden
The Ötztal valley stretches between the high peaks of the Stubai and Ötztal Alps with Tyrol's highest mountain, the Wildspitze (3774 m). A narrow mountain road winds its way up into the Vent Valley shortly after Sölden, at the end of which is the idyllic mountaineering village of Vent.
The family-run “Kleon” hotel is located right at the entrance to the village and is particularly welcoming to families. Here, participants can enjoy a rich and varied breakfast buffet every morning and a delicious three-course menu with salad buffet in the evening. The accommodation offers a small sauna, which can be used free of charge, separate lounges and Wi-Fi in the lobby. The apartments are spacious and are occupied by four people. They have a small kitchen, a modern bathroom with bathtub and usually a balcony with a view of the Talleitspitze. Depending on availability, double rooms can be booked directly on site for an additional charge.
There is a small ski area with a night toboggan run in the village. Not far from Vent, a little further up, are the Rofenhöfe farms, the highest, permanently inhabited mountain farms in Austria. An excursion there is always worthwhile, as the high alpine nature, homemade schnapps and the adventurous suspension bridge over a narrow, deep gorge, which is illuminated in the evening, are tempting.
The ski bus to Sölden, one of Austria's most famous winter sports resorts, departs directly from the hotel every morning. Sölden promises three 3000 m peaks, two glaciers (the Rettenbach and Tiefenbachferner) and 145 km of pistes in between.
The lift and gondola facilities are super modern and designed for high capacities, so long waiting times are rare. The longest descent is 15 km long, with almost 2 km of vertical drop. The Sölden ski area is extremely varied and guarantees lots of fun. This excursion is only recommended to a limited extent for beginners who are skiing for the first time, as practice slopes can only be reached by gondola.
