Education for sustainable development (ESD)

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is the key to a better, fairer and more livable future! In a world characterized by crises such as climate change, dwindling resources and growing inequality, it is becoming increasingly clear that we all have a responsibility to make a difference. ESD workshops and courses enable us to think outside the box, master today's challenges and find solutions for tomorrow's world.

In ESD workshops or courses, we learn to make conscious decisions with a clear view of their long-term consequences. We learn how we can initiate big, positive changes on a small scale in our everyday lives. Because every action counts!

ESD gives us the tools to actively shape the future with innovative thinking, cooperative action and ethical awareness. ​ESD inspires us to see the world as it could be: sustainable, fair, and future-proof. It turns us into agents of change. By developing and implementing sustainable solutions, we are helping to ensure that future generations can live in an intact and just world.

TH Wildau offers workshops and events on ESD for all university members. An important provider of ESD is the ViNN:Lab, which received the Brandenburg ESD Certificate for Sustainable Educationin December 2025. In 2024 the ViNN:Lab received the “National Award – Education for Sustainable Development” from the German UNESCO Commission.
