There are many reasons in favour of a professorship at a Technical University of Applied Sciences - and yet this career path is still little known. To change this, the Career Centre for Professorial Development at TH Wildau is organising an exciting online event together with the VDI Network Women in Engineering on 28.05.2024, which will provide fresh insights into the profession.

A great deal of creative freedom, passing on knowledge, research on current and relevant issues, corporate cooperation: do these aspects sound attractive to you? Then the career path of a professorship at a Technical University of Applied Sciences could be just right for you! Technical Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) can be found all over Germany. They are strong in research and are characterised by their emphasis on practice and their special focus on teaching. Many Technical Universities of Applied Sciences also have a technical focus and therefore fill professorships in technical subjects. Qualified specialists are needed here!

Discovering new career paths

Nevertheless, the UAS-professorship is still relatively unknown compared to the university professorship. The information event on 28 May 2024 aims to change this. The event is being organised by the Career Centre for Professorial Development (KpE) at TH Wildau and the network "Women in Engineering" of the VDI - The Association of German Engineers.

Professors give insights into the career path

First, Susanne Voltmer, Head of KpE, will give an introduction to the university type and the job description. Of course, she will also provide information on the necessary qualifications and point out support programmes. Afterwards, you can look forward to an exciting panel discussion and a Q&A with three UAS professors. Prof Dr Burghilde Wieneke-Toutaoui, former President of Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences and Co-Chair of the VDI Network Women in Engineering, Prof Dr Dina Hannebauer, Professor at TH Wildau, and Prof Dr Ulrike Gayh, Professor at SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, will talk about their individual paths to a professorship, answer questions from the audience and discuss the past and present of UAS professorships.

Take the opportunity to discover this exciting career path for yourself!
