From 4 November 2024, a travelling exhibition on the topic of inclusion by the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfe Sachsen e. V. will be making a stop on the campus of TH Wildau: The exhibition shows the perspectives of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses and makes the diversity of inclusion visible. The exhibition will be accompanied by several events at the university. Anyone interested is cordially invited!

In November and December 2024, a visit to TH Wildau - Technical University of Applied Sciences will be particularly worthwhile for non-members. A travelling exhibition on the topic of inclusion will be on display on the university campus from 4 November to 16 December and can be visited individually and at any time. The travelling exhibition ‘Weil Vielfalt fetzt’ - 'Because diversity rocks' was developed by the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfe Sachsen e. V. (LAG SH Sachsen) with funding from the Free State of Saxony and Aktion Mensch. It shows people with and without disabilities who are committed to inclusive coexistence in their very own way. It portrays people who experience new opportunities and possibilities through inclusive programmes or who encounter obstacles and problems due to a lack of inclusion. The travelling exhibition is being awarded nationwide and is now also making a stop in Wildau.

Barrier-free and entertaining

The ‘Weil Vielfalt fetzt’ - 'Because diversity rocks' exhibition is deliberately designed to reach people who have had little contact with inclusion and have little concrete association with the term. That's why visitors can expect entertaining texts and photographs as well as interactive media stations that invite them to join in and experience. Of course, the exhibition is also designed to be accessible: a guidance system for the blind has been integrated and all texts are also available in plain language.

Grand opening and further events

‘It is important to us that not only university members benefit from the exhibition,’ reports Susanne Voltmer, Head of the Career Centre for Professorial Development at TH Wildau, which is bringing the travelling exhibition to the university. The exhibition is open to the public in Hall 10 and Hall 14 on the campus of TH Wildau and can be viewed free of charge from Monday to Saturday from 6.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. without registration. A visit is particularly worthwhile on the occasion of the opening ceremony on 12 November 2024 at 15:30. Guests can look forward to an introduction to the exhibition by the curators and a poetry slam; the exhibition will then be celebrated together. Further cultural highlights on the topic of inclusion will then follow in December: at the ‘Inclusion concerns us all’ experience day on 5 December 2024, 10 a.m. -1 p.m., there will be an opportunity to try out wheelchairs and other aids for yourself and experience a change of perspective. And on 12 December 2024, 2 p.m., there will be a festive closing of the exhibition with captivating talks by speaker and inclusion ambassador Janis McDavid and para-swimming medallist Verena Schott.
