We work on the optimisation of surface and interface properties of nanoscale materials for applications such as green IT, medical theranostics or water treatment. To investigate thin layers, nanoparticles and molecular systems, we use sophisticated laboratory equipment as well as synchrotron radiation sources such as BESSY II in Berlin-Adlershof. Modelling and simulations of experimental data enable us to understand the measured properties and improve them in the next step.
