Since 2017, Technische Hochschule Wildau - Technical University of Applied Sciences (TH Wildau) has been a test centre for the "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang" (DSH). The registration required for this was recently confirmed by the Fachverband Deutsch als Fremd- und Zweitsprache (FaDaF) for another five years until 2027. The FaDaF is responsible for the quality assurance of the examination of the content structure and the formal issuing of the registration of DSH examination centres. To this end, the TH Wildau had submitted the corresponding examination regulations (Regulations for the DSH for Study Applicants with Foreign Educational Qualifications at the TH Wildau) to the association for re-registration. The DSH is recognised by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) and serves primarily to provide prospective students with linguistic access to the German higher education landscape. Successfully passing the DSH examination guarantees the linguistic prerequisites for taking up studies at a German college or university.

TH Wildau is thus one of the largest examination centres at universities of applied sciences in Germany and offers around 250 places at the university's language centre each year. In addition to prospective students who go through the German courses, e.g. as part of the Wildau Foundation Year or the TH Wildau Welcome Centre, about half of the participants come from external requests from the entire Berlin and Brandenburg region. Among others, the TH Wildau cooperates with the Institute for International Communication in Berlin, which sends scholarship holders to Wildau.

"For TH Wildau, the DSH is an important building block for attracting international students. We were fully booked this year and had over 250 participants from about 30 different countries in the exams. The high demand shows that our capacities could even be expanded," says Daniela Schultz from the Language Centre at TH Wildau.

The university offers the DSH three times a year. Those interested can prepare for the exam in the semester-long online DSH courses offered by the Language Centre. The online courses were developed during the Corona period and allow greater access at home and abroad. The team also offers a wide range of mock exams and exercises on the website. The examiners come from the TH Wildau's own language centre and are sometimes supported by external specialists.
