Commitment to diversity in the workplace - Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau signs Diversity Charter
On behalf of technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, President Prof. Ulrike Tippe signed the Diversity Charter today, 23 May, German Diversity Day. By signing the charter, the university reaffirms its commitment to an appreciative working environment and assures its employees that it will continue to promote diversity in the workplace in the future. The university's Diversity and Inclusion working group accompanied the moment and is planning further measures for more diversity.
Prof. Ulrike Tippe, President of Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau), signed the Diversity Charter on 23 May 2023 and reaffirmed the university's commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace. The Diversity Charter was launched by four companies in 2006 and is a voluntary commitment to strengthening an appreciative working environment. To date, 4,900 institutions and companies across Germany have already signed the charter and committed themselves to promoting diversity in the workplace and eliminating prejudice. Due to the great structural importance of the topic, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has taken on the patronage of the Diversity Charter.
TH Wildau committed to diversity
Diversity and inclusion are very important at the TH Wildau. A welcoming culture for international students and employees is just as much a matter of course as a family-friendly service agreement that enables flexible and location-independent part-time working. By signing the Diversity Charter, the university management is also signalling that employees can continue to rely on a non-discriminatory working environment in the future.
Among other things, the university has voluntarily committed to sensitising all departments to diversity and emphasising the central value of diversity in the workplace. At TH Wildau, the Diversity and Inclusion working group, which accompanied today's signing of the charter, is also committed to this goal. The working group is planning further activities for next June, which is also traditionally Pride Month. The aim is to strengthen diversity at the university even more and to focus more on the topic in external communication.
Diverse teams are strong teams
Diversity is becoming increasingly important in the world of work, as diverse people also bring diverse knowledge, skills and perspectives to the table. Employers cannot do without this diversity and must encourage it. Only when people from different cultural backgrounds, different ages and different socialisation come together, sexual and gender diversity is a matter of course and no one is excluded due to a disability or chronic illness, efficient and flexible teams are created.
