You can register as a library user at the information desk on the first floor. Students, faculty and staff use their university ID card as library card. External users will be issued a library card free of charge upon presentation of a valid identity card. They must be 16 years or older.
The information desk is the place to go for questions concerning using the library and its services as well as for reference queries. Journals and interlibrary loan items must be checked out and returned at the information desk. Further, fees must be paid at the information desk. You can also book rooms, buy books, padlocks or fabric bags and hand in lost property.
Borrowing, return and loan periodsOpen areaClose area
You can borrow and return media items by using one of our self issue machines on the first floor. Journals and interlibrary loan items can only be checked out and returned at the information desk during our opening hours. You can also return media items by post. As soon as we receive these items, we will return them and notify you by e-mail.
Students can borrow 70 media items concurrently; external users can borrow 30 media items concurrently. The loan period can be extended two times (except of journals) as long as the media item is not reserved by another user.
Loan periods:
- open-stack collection: 20 working days
- textbooks: 60 working days only for students
- journals: 10 working days.
Library accountOpen areaClose area
You can monitor the current status of borrowed items, fees, reservations and interlibrary loan orders in your library account. Please log in with your library number and password. You find your library number on the back of your university ID card or on your library card. You assigned the password yourself after registering in the library. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it (reset password). When logged in, you can make reservations and interlibrary loan orders or renew borrowed items.

Overdue fees
You receive a reminder to return borrowed items three days before the loan period ends. In case you do not return items on time, there will be the following fees:
- 1. demand note (5 days after end of loan period): 1,50 euro per media item
- 2. demand note (10 days after end of loan period): +1,50 euro per media item
- 3. demand note (15 days after end of loan period): +1,50 euro per media item
- 4. demand note (20 days after end of loan period): +1,50 euro per media item
Your library account will be blocked automatically when your account reaches fees of 15 euro. Members of the university can pay fees with their university ID card or by bank transfer. External users can pay cash or by bank transfer.
Book substitute
In case you loose or damage a borrowed item, you have to replace this item. You can choose one of the following options:
- 1. You purchase the same or a newer edition of the item and hand it in to the library as a book substitute.
- 2. You pay the the book price as well as a service fee of 10 euro per media item to the library.
Please contact the library as soon as possible in order to avoid overdue fees.

Renewal and reservationOpen areaClose area
You can renew a media item three days before the loan period ends as long as no other user has reserved this item. You can use your library account, renew by e-mail or phone call.
You can reserve a media item through your library account. As soon as the reserved item is available, you will be notified by e-mail.
Interlibrary loanOpen areaClose area
Do you need a media item which is not part of our collection? You can order this item via interlibrary loan from another library. Please note that each interlibrary loan includes a fee of 1,50 € per media item.
You can search in the German National Index of Wilbert and order a media item using the link “Inter-library loan”. Enter your library login and choose "Wildau TH". Please fill in the order form. As soon as the media item arrives, you will be notified by e-mail.
Loan of calculatorsOpen areaClose area
University members can borrow Olympia LCD 8110 calculators from the library. It is possible to borrow individual calculators for up to one semester (6 months) or sets of 10 for exam purposes. A total of 100 calculators are available.
When borrowing the calculators, you must be able to identify yourself with your university ID card or ID card. Please note that according to the fee schedule dated January 16, 2019, § 5, the borrower bears the expenses for damaged, lost or non-returned media units as well as technical equipment from the library holdings.

Lost and foundOpen areaClose area
In case you have lost or found an item in the library, please contact the library team at the information desk on the first floor. You can also contact the university's lost and found office in building 13, room 110.
