Language concept as part of the internationalisation strategy of TH Wildau
The Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau) has developed a language concept as part of its internationalisation strategy. This concept formulates objectives and needs for action in the field of ‘language’, which is one of four central fields of action in the internationalisation strategy. The development was largely carried out by the language centre and the units of the centre for international affairs and was successfully approved by the senate in June 2024. The concept aims to create a bilingual, inclusive and intercultural university, promoting both individual and institutional multilingualism.
Key aspects of the language concept:
- Study and teaching: The TH Wildau offers degree programmes in German and English. Exchange students can acquire up to 30 ECTS per semester in English-language courses. German language courses to accompany the degree programme support international students.
- Multilingualism and interculturality: The university promotes the acquisition of foreign language skills and raises awareness of intercultural competence. Job offers are advertised internationally and in English.
- Research and transfer: Research projects are primarily conducted in German and English. The TH Wildau supports the international dissemination of research results.
- Administration and communication: Through the language concept, the university is committed to bilingual counselling and all relevant documents are available in two languages.
The language concept is evaluated and updated annually to ensure that it meets the dynamic requirements of a globalised educational landscape. With this concept, the TH Wildau is strengthening its role as an international educational institution and offering its students an inclusive learning environment.
