FACT in Medium-sized Enterprises

Specialisation offers from Business Administration

Medium-sized Enterprises are the success factor of the German economy: over 99 per cent of all companies in Germany are Medium-sized Enterprises. They generate more than half of the value added, provide almost 60 per cent of all jobs and around 82 per cent of company training places (source: www.bmwi.de/Redaktion/DE/Dossier/politik-fuer-den-mittelstand.html). The specialisation ‘Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Taxation (FACT) in Medium-sized Enterprises’ deepens traditional business administration, taking into account the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. The basic structure of the specialisation is formed by the competence fields of investment and financing for medium-sized Enterprises, business taxation and controlling. The financing options for medium-sized Enterprises are examined in more detail in the ‘Corporate Finance for SMEs’ module. In ‘Company Taxation’, the focus is on taxation procedures, income tax law (income, corporation and trade tax) and VAT law. The course looks at all types of tax and is case-orientated. In the ‘Managerial Accounting’ part of the specialisation, special attention is paid to teaching the range of instruments (including budgeting, key figures and key figure systems, reporting). Completing the specialisation opens up the prospect of working as a treasurer or in the finance department of medium-sized Enterprises, in a (medium-sized) tax consultancy firm or as a controller, for example.
