Contact person: Yentl D'hoine

On 7 and 8 May, the International Office of the Wildau University of Applied Sciences organized the two-day study trip to Hamburg. This study trip was not only for tourism, but also for networking among the international students. On this study trip, students from different countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, France, India, Italy, Belgium and many other countries got to know each other.

Moreover, international relations offer many benefits to students, such as learning about new cultures, new languages, different ways of thinking and viewpoints and so on.

After this study trip, many students have greatly expanded their knowledge about each other's home countries. In the area of tourism, the following activities were organized: a walk through Hamburg's city center, the car museum and St. Michael's Church. In the last one, we also visited a viewing platform.

This study trip was partly financed by the students themselves and by DAAD, who made all this possible. This excursion certainly achieved its goal, which was to bring the group as a whole closer together.

October

  • Saturday 1.10.: Egyptian Museum:

Organized by Yentl D'hoine

The Egyptian museum was very large, consisting of four floors. Actually, many of us found it too big to view everything in full focus. Everything was very interesting, but people should be able to take the time to visit it. In addition, it might be useful to use the audio guides. Worth repeating if you are very interested in history and Egyptian culture in general.

  • Saturday 8.10.: Festival of Light:

Organized by Yentl D'hoine

The Festival of Lights that took place from October 7th to 16th, 2022 was great! There were several illuminated buildings such as the Brandenburer Tor, the square in front of the Berliner Dom and, for example, Potsdamer Platz also had different things to see. Lots of walking but definitely worth visiting again next year. The photo shows our group visiting the Festival of Lights. Still a nice number of 26 students!! After the "Festival of Lights“, we went for a drink in Warschauer Straße.

  • Saturday 22.10.: Natural History Museum Berlin:

Organized by Yentl D'hoine

The natural history museum was very interesting, and had changed a bit since the last time I was there. They had added some new galleries, with the T-rex skeleton, for example. The planetarium is also worth seeing, along with the eye-catcher at the center of the museum: the dinosaur skeletons that reach to the ceiling. Similarly, the various minerals and gemstones in general were cool to see which countries they came from. Therefore, students could actually go and see minerals or stones from their own countries. After the natural history museum, we went to an Irish Pub near Checkpoint Charlie (Kochstraße) for a drink.

November

  • Saturday, 12.11.: The German Spy Museum:

Organized by Yentl D'hoine

On Saturday, November 12, we were in the German Spy Museum. This was a fun experience! The museum introduced us to the spy world and were able to try out a lot of gadgets, i.e. a lie detector, a laser track and even a small tunnel. We really liked the museum. After our visit we went to the Christmas market at Potsdamer Platz. Definitely a beautiful and successful day!
